Inclusion and employee performance

Research shows that when employees feel included, it improves their performance, job satisfaction and commitment. So how does it work? What is the connection between inclusion and other factors, such as job satisfaction and commitment?

So, let's unpack these! Inclusion is when an individual feels valued and experiences a sense of belonging. When an employee feels included, they feel comfortable contributing and applying their knowledge and skills. An inclusive work culture also creates positivity where employees feel empowered. Hence, they support each other and support the organisation to do well. Organically, the performance level of employees increases together with their job satisfaction and commitment.

Inclusive organisations attract employees of different backgrounds bringing various skills and knowledge. When diversity increases, the overall performance of the organisation improves. There is enough evidence to prove that diverse organisations perform better than homogenous organisations. Thus, fostering DEI in the organisation leads to success.
